By The Fire

One night in the peaceful cave where we always slept (this was during my baby years), Lady Penelope lay on her mossy nest overlooking me as I slept by the fire, sound and peaceful. She gazed into the bright flames of the fire as they danced a ritualistic dance of their ancestors, which brought fire to the early humans that became my species. Lady Penelope knew she had to keep me safe and protected from any danger, and she did a good job, without being too overprotective and more sensing.

Lady Penelope took me in her arms and began to sing to me a soft, ancient lullaby, passed down from generation to generation in her primal, natural family. Now she was all alone, but with me, she had nothing to fear. She had someone which will keep her company for all time - me. Her baby. Her daughter. A future protector of nature, just like her - a woman who trusts her instincts towards living peacefully in nature, just like those who came before her. My skin was soft against her thin, comforting arms, and, hugging me close to her chest, Lady Penelope whispered: "I'll always love you, my little burning flame."
