Once upon a time, a silver rocketship glided slowly and gracefully through the vast reaches of Space, on a mission to find new life on the planet Mars. Commanding this ship was a grieving captain named Jeff Tracy, H.R.S (High Ranking Senior). He had, by all means, a mission that might make him choose between the wellbeing of his crew or his family.
His last four sons had each died of a disease back on Earth, leaving his fifth son, John, left. His wife, Lucille, died upon giving birth to him, leaving John as the only one who might be healthy enough to withstand life on this strange new planet, away from the peaceful terrain he called Earth.
Or might call it when he’s older.
But then, tragedy struck.
A fierce meteor shower began roaring all around the ship. Jeff Tracy was forced to bail everyone out before they met their doom, but sadly they all met their fate from lack of oxygen among the blackness of the nothing above Earth. One by one, death by death, no mercy, not in a million.
But his biggest decision came upon trying to bail out his crying son. At first he couldn’t decide whether to bail himself out or save his own son for his sake. Then, he realised what he must do. To save himself, he threw his son out among the darkness as the spaceship exploded in a massive firework of flame and petrol drops.
The next thing he remembered, John felt himself being sucked into a milky white portal, and then, the scent of baby powder filled his developing nostrils.
When John opened his developing eyes, he saw that he was lying on a soft white cloud, surrounded by pastel yellow stars floating all around him. He had stopped crying. Was he seeing stars? Literally?
But then he heard two voices. Two gentle, kind voices:
“A….small human? I’ve never seen anything like him before.”
“Whoever he is, we have to protect him no matter what, for the honor of the Dream Kingdom.”
It was there that John met Ursa Major and Roary, two loyal pets of the Moon Dreamers, who upon seeing his name carved neatly into his new, soft, silky onesie, which glittered in the baby powder-scented sunlight, decided they should protect him and be his loyal guardians.
And thus a new era was born…
