Celestia Goes Camping

Franklin’s dad had agreed to take him and his little sister Harriet camping to make up for the death of his mother. The week after their long confession they got Princess Celestia to accompany them in case the little shellshockers had nightmares, and since they had forgotten to bring the tent pole due to Franklin’s dad having an immense crying fit remembering his wife being shot by hunters, Princess Celestia offered to help.

That night, after a sumptuous supper of pancakes, sausages and eggs, Princess Celestia helped lift up the tent so Franklin and his family could go to bed. At about 1AM precisely, Princess Celestia was shivering and struggling to sit up, but couldn’t due to lack of sleep. Franklin’s eyes shot open and he knew Princess Celestia was in trouble, and was getting a complete lack of sleep. He could tell her horn was flashing on and off.

“Are you okay, Mrs Celestia?” he asked, concerned.

“Okay, okay, a little bit, I just gotta-” And just like that, her horn flashed off and she fell asleep. There was a moment’s silence as the princess teetered this way and that, like a pony funhouse.

And then,

CRASH! The tent collapsed on all three friends - Princess Celestia, Franklin and Harriet, and while the princess snored away, yellow seed like crusty eye boogers in her eyelids and the bottoms of her eyes completely black, Franklin and Harriet just laughed.

And to Mr Turtle’s surprise, while Princess Celestia had fallen asleep, day had already come! He smiled warmly.

“Well,” he said with a yawn, “I guess Franklin and Harriet are going to be good friends with Mrs Celestia. If she reminds them of their mother then so be it.”
