“Peekaboo!” Orko was playing peekaboo with baby Furaha. He hid his eyes behind his hands and felt the excitement well up inside him as he asked Furaha, “Where’s the baby..?” And then he would uncover his eyes and call out, “Boo!” which really made Furaha laugh. She would then cover and uncover her eyes, as if she were playing peekaboo too. Orko swept Furaha up in his arms and tickled her, causing him to fall over onto the sofa and laugh with her.
Then, he heard his mother Ua calling him. “Orko! Oh Orko! Don’t forget you promised to give baby Furaha her bath today.” “Oh…er…oh!” said Orko, “I’ve promised, and a promise is a promise!” he called.
So later on, Kiburi got out the pristine clean white bathtub decorated with little yellow ducks and filled it with lots of mild-temperatured water. He then wobbly placed it onto the table while Orko carried his little sister in and Ua got out the soap, sponge and bath toys. As Orko lifted Furaha into the mild water, Furaha kicked some water at him. “AAAAHH!” he screamed, as Furaha was a little bit wiggly sometimes, but still, he laughed with her antics, and finally got her into the bath. First, he got out the plastic red jug and showered her with water. He went “Wheeeeeeee!” as the water fell in an aquatic curtain down her soft, silky fur, turning it bedraggled and wet. Then he got out the soap and sponge and lathered them with lots of bubbles and the rich scent of lavender. Orko sang a song about parts of a lion’s body as he scrubbed Furaha from head to toe. It went something like this:
“Scrub scrub scrub between your ears
Then your arms and hands, my dear,
Then your legs and then your toes,
And that’s the way the body song goes!”
Then he sniffed Furaha and back away a little comically. “Phhwoooaar! You still smell awful - your armpits and hind paws need a good scrubbing.” He scrubbed Furaha’s underarms and hind paws so gently, it felt like an angel had done all of Orko’s work. Then Orko got out the rubber duck, and made it squeak in front of Furaha. “It wants to say hello,” said Orko, placing it into the water. He made little quacking sounds as he made the duck swim round Furaha, and then…PECK! PECK! PECK! He gently made the duck peck Furaha in the sides, causing her to giggle. “It’s an Eagleduck, coming to pick your flesh!” he cried! “Don’t worry, the amazing sailboat will come and stop it!” He took out the red and yellow sailboat that Ua had put out and made it fight the duck in an epic bathroom battle. “KAPOW! PEW PEW PEW! Oh no, the boat’s getting defeated by the duck! Will he defeat them in time?” Furaha laughed and clapped her paws in excitement to see Orko play such a game. He then froze and fell to the ground, silently pretending to play dead. Furaha looked confused. Suddenly, Orko got up and threw the boat high into the air, causing it to land in the bath again. “Yay!” cheered baby Furaha. “The boat wins! Woohoo! Yeah!” cheered Orko.
It isn’t until she heard Kiburi’s voice this time. “Orko! Time to get Furaha out of the bath now.” “Okay, Kiburi,” said Orko. He lifted Furaha out of the bath and onto a fluffy white towel. He used a fluffy green towel on his sister, causing her to get fluffed up. How Orko laughed! Luckily, he produced a soft bristled purple brush from his sleeve and brushed Furaha gently. Furaha sighed. She felt pampered feeling Orko brush her like a fancy lady brushes her show-winning dog. Soon, Furaha’s fur was all soft and sleek like a pussycat’s. Orko applied some baby cologne onto Furaha to make her smell nice. “This should keep the smelly underarm beasts away,” he said as he applied some to his ears and arms. He then took Furaha in his arms and cuddled her. “Aaaaawwww…this is the best bathtime we’ve ever had.” He said softly into Furaha’s ear.
After Furaha’s bath, Orko read Furaha a board book about a huggable little puppy and his adventures over the rainbow. It was called ‘Desmond The Puppy’s Rainbow Adventure’, and it was Furaha’s favourite book of all time, mainly because of how exciting it all is, with all the magic elements and everything. Then Orko heard Ua calling his name this time, but it wasn’t about Furaha’s bath this time…
“You smell awful. Time for your bath as well!”
THE END.
