My afternoon was full of mistakes. If you've experienced mistakes and can't take anymore of this anxious, cruddy real life you're living, an escape into water is what you need. Oh, and a bit of writing in the mindfulness journal.
You will need:
- A pair of safety scissors
- A natural water sounds app
- A bed to lie on
- Water-themed washi tape
- A notebook
- A Uni Ballpoint Pen
First of all, ask your Amazon Echo to play some Water Sounds. Lie back, close your eyes and feel the waves wash over you, as you escape into an imaginary world inside your mind and focus on your breathing, slowly going in, and out, and the rise and fall of your chest and tummy.
When the sounds have ended, get out a notebook and pattern a double spread page in your notebook with stripes of water-themed washi tape and cut them at the edge of the page with the safety scissors. On the left page, write down where you escaped to as the sounds play in between each line of washi tape. On the right, write some positive affirmations about how mistakes can go right when they went wrong today. Things like:
"I will save food for tomorrow. Self care matters today."
Or
"An anti spill cup is the perfect replacement."
Once you've done it, and next time you feel stressed and panicked again, you can dash off to your room, do the Thunderbirds countdown, then it's on with the activity!
Okay, maybe I'm being a bit too loud.
