Collins Lullabies
I just found this haunting 1994 cassette of lullabies from Collins that came out way before I was born - I guess my mum should've brought it for me when I was little to soothe me to sleep every bedtime - but I know what all the songs remind me of: Factory Create and Mackinnon & Saunders.
My Predictions For 'It Doesn't Take A Genius/Palentines' Day'
It Doesn't Take A Genius:
- Yikes is jealous that Lulu gets to answer all the important questions whilst he was one of the Popples who gets to ask the questions.
- When Lulu swaps tests with Yikes, everybody thinks he's a genius.
- Yikes sings about how fun it is to be a genius and make new inventions like Lulu.
- Lulu and Yikes, in an effort to see what life is like for them in one another's shoes, swap Treepods and Yikes tries his hand at inventing.
- Lulu's Popple-Bot goes haywire all around the town, but Yikes swings into action with Lulu's Shrink-O-Ray to save the town and shrink the Popple Bot to the size of a beetle.
- Yikes learns that you don't have to be a genius to solve problems.
Palentines' Day:
- On Palentines' Day, male Popples launch beautifully wrapped gifts high into the air with balloons. In mid-air, the balloons and presents explode and the gifts land in the arms of the person one Popple admires.
- Yikes is having trouble deciding what to give Izzy on Palentines' Day, but unusually, Mike Mine helps him rather than steal his gift.
- Yikes sings about 'What To Give On Palentines' Day'.
- Yikes is challenged by Mike Mine to see who can choose the best gift for Izzy before sundown.
- Mike Mine plays a trick on everyone during the Palentines' celebrations by launching a stinkbomb into his gift and watching it explode to reveal a horrible smell.
My Predictions For 'Smart House Arrest/Sunny Loses Her Pop'
Smart House Arrest:
- Lulu's science fair invention is a robotic servant which does all the household work for you.
- Lulu sings about her invention.
- The invention is also concerned about security, locking every window and door until it locks the Popples in the Treepod.
- Sunny uses her magic perfume to make the machine change its mind, but its power doesn't work on the machine.
- Some of the Popples try running into the door.
- Eventually, Lulu finds out that there is a secret switch at the back of the invention which all the B.P.Ps press together and stop the machine once and for all.
- The B.P.Ps burn Lulu's invention on the fire.
Sunny Loses Her Pop:
- Whenever Sunny sneezes, bubbles come out of her mouth.
- Bubbles believes that the legendary 'Pop Flower' can cure Sunny's cold, and sets off on an epic quest to Meadowdew Mountain to find it.
- Lulu uses her invention to help Sunny whenever she needs something like a drink or Popplefruit soup.
- Izzy performs some funny and acrobatic tricks for her sick friend.
- Yikes sings a lullaby to help Sunny get plenty of rest.
- In order to make sure Sunny doesn't miss the big Poppleball game, Lulu decides to use her video camera to record it and show it to her friend as a surprise.
A Refreshing Swim
If you're living in the wild, there's nothing like a refreshing swim in the cool, inviting lake. This was a dream I had last night, and this was the first in September! Phew.
In the dream, Luke, Resus, Cleo and I were feral and were going for a swim in the lake. I climbed up a tree and took an almighty dive into the lake. But then came the thrilling bit - we were swimming with not fierce but friendly crocodiles who allowed us to hold onto their backs as we swam gracefully in the lake. They didn't bite us, they were kind like all the other animals in our jungle home. Unlike most experiences, swimming with crocodiles in this jungle is paradise, like our life in the jungle should be.
