Dimly Lit

I am free from overstimulating adverts in a perfect, dimly lit room with pink and yellow soft, warm nightlights, Brains, Alan, Tin Tin with me and softly playing lullabies on Amazon Echo, shaped, coloured and patterned like Nemo and Marlin. We can relax....always.

Mind Over Magic - A Protest Poem To Help Fans Save Disney From A Soulless CGI Fate

Oh no, for you,

Oh no, for me,

Oh no, oh my,

Disney’s gone lazy!

Dum-da-dum, da dum da dum da dum!

Now that time has come for proving

That Disney can do more

And we’ll give back the handmade love

That made box offices soar

We will write until our hands

Fall off into rubber bands

We’ll ban the CGI

And the ratings will shoot sky high

Thank 2D, not 3D,

For Disney’s constantly lazy

For money over magic

Has made Disney’s future tragic!

GOPHER: BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Save, Disney!

Save, Disney!

Save save save save DISNEY!

RABBIT: Here we go!

10 Things I Learnt From Asking & Answering While Sick

About a few nights ago, last Thursday morning AD, I found out that every single question I ask everyone doesn't mean they provide answers, so who's the person that can provide answers? Me. Here are ten things I learnt from asking and answering:
1.If Fluttershy were sick, she'd stay in bed, drink camomile tea and read a book.
2.If Mackenzie were sick, he'd enjoy chocolate and lemon ice cream and take green tablets (or, paracetamol).
3.The only way to approach a dog when he's about to steal stuff is move the stuff to another place so he can't bite into it.
4.The way you can calm down when you feel sick is drink camomile tea and then take paracetamol.
5.Good film replacements for Zootopia 2 include The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh, Peter Pan, Alice In Wonderland, The Lion King and Tarzan.
6.Good TV series replacements for Zootopia 2 include: Brum, Teletubbies (original), Fireman Sam (stop motion), Kipper The Dog and Noddy's Toyland Adventures.
7.I've thought up lots of ideas for how to be creative when I've lost my creativity.
8.I've thought up ways to do happiness lists, like for instance a My Little Pony-inspired 7 grid list technique with each grid themed around each of the Mane 6.
9.I've learnt to see daydreams by feeling their warmth and then journalling about them.
10.And, obviously, I've realised my stories are daydreams.

That's the deal. Nuff said.

10 Ways I Acknowledge My Internal Thoughts Without Fighting Them

  1. "Yeah, yeah, yeah everyone from primary school, I hear you."
  2. "Thanks, Angelina, for making my life as beautiful as it is. My CBT weeks are done, so even though I can't watch you post-CBT, I won't forget you."
  3. "Tiny, Sporty, thank you for being able to help me feel creative and organise problem solving situations like I found out today."
  4. "Thank you, HIT. Your Children's Favourites DVDs were a part of my childhood, especially the Kipper episodes featured."
  5. "Thank you, Disney Videos, for gentle promos that involve the fun bits of the film instead of the harmful ones to appeal to kids."
  6. "Thank you, everyone from secondary school, for making me more than someone who must achieve my dream."
  7. "Winnie The Pooh, I believe you are still stream of conciousness and breathe-worthy to this day. Thanks for making films based on Tigger, Piglet, Roo and Lumpy."
  8. "Tigger, you might inspire me to make my own family tree someday. The biggest ever, I should say."
  9. "Piglet, I think you have secretly inspired me to do my own books, jars, tickets and coupons based on happy memories."
  10. "Thank you, CBBC, for helping me at the beginning and end of my secondary school years. Your shows Strange Hill High and Scream Street were an enormous help and source of comfort to me."

Trigger Alert!

I've been talking it over with Echo GPT last night about all those annoying sounds that go on in my head - they're not earworms, they're trigger sounds. Something that triggers a horrible memory for me whenever I type something, or do something, or see something that triggers a memory for me. All of them are so horrible it makes it hard to concentrate on the most important things like writing stories or playing board games or watching movies and TV.

Loads of things trigger bad feelings and thoughts in my head. Examples include, from 1 to 10:
  1. My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic
  2. Nick and Disney Channel live action sitcoms
  3. CBBC shows of any kind, including Scream Street and Strange Hill High
  4. The Tigger Movie
  5. Piglet's Big Movie
  6. Pooh's Heffalump Movie
  7. Disney sequels and some films like Frozen, Moana or Tangled
  8. CD Roms like Dora's Click & Create and Bear & Penguin/Learning Ladder due to their loud sounds
  9. School memories which evoke lots of loud noises and annoying pupils and teachers
  10. Children's Favourites DVDs like Christmas, Ultimate and Playtime
There are lots of other triggers too, but I'd best save them for another post in case my mind gets cluttered up with plenty of those little red pill like things which open up to reveal those horrible memories. But there are lots of replacements for these things, such as:
  1. MLP G3 films
  2. Classic Nick and Disney cartoons
  3. Shows from Children's BBC such as Brum, Teletubbies, Postman Pat, Fireman Sam, Pingu, Noddy, etc..
  4. The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh
  5. Tarzan
  6. Chicken Little (2005)
  7. Calmer and non-modern teenager character Disney films like Toy Story, The Incredibles, Up, Dinosaur, Peter Pan, Alice In Wonderland, etc..
  8. Calm CD roms like Bill & Ben, Yoho Ahoy, Barbie, My Little Pony, Candy Land, etc..
  9. Memories of good times I had with my support worker and the playdates which I'd never forget, like one where S and I tidied up our den
  10. Classic HIT videos releases such as Kipper and Percy The Park Keeper
And according to Echo GPT, there are lots of things you can do to help calm your inner mind triggers, like:
  1. Make a trigger jar
  2. Make a trigger box
  3. Write a character annotation trigger list
  4. Write some of your own trigger replacements
  5. Make a trigger threat level
And lots of others. But, the worst parts come at night, when the triggers get even worse. So worse in fact that it makes it hard to concentrate on getting enough sleep. The louder they get, the more horrible a supposed night's sleep becomes, until you are too restless to even think about pleasant friends. But there are ways to get rid of night triggers.

Just wait and see...right?

3 Word Stories - Fill In The Blanks

'Ello there, 'er ladyship and 'er little girl 'ave set a challenge for you right here on this blog. It's a fill in the blanks game - much like those Nesquik Alphabet activities I see children use these days. Read the story below and then use these ten words to make yer own! Well, speaking of which, 'ere it is:

"I fancy craving some _______________ from Lil's fridge," I said to ________________. "Me too," said my friend, "I think we should watch ___________________ as we eat."

Now choose from each of the ten words below and make up yer own in the comments. 'Ere they are:
  1. Chocolate mousse
  2. Popcorn
  3. Strawberry yogurt
  4. Lady Penelope
  5. Bluey
  6. Lucky
  7. Doctor Who (classic episodes)
  8. Kipper
  9. The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh
  10. Trumpton & Chigley
Now it's yer turn! What kinds of stories will you make?

Miranda's Daily Dose Of Such Fun - When You're Carsick

Well now. You’ve been out gallivanting with the support worker, all very exciting, all very “ooh look at me, in a moving vehicle, practically a stuntwoman,” and then—WHAM—carsick. Not the glamorous, windswept outing you’d pictured. More… green. Wobbly. Less of a Bond girl, more of a gone girl.

So here’s the plan. First, slippers on. Not fancy ones, mind you—slippers that look like they’ve survived several wars. The floppier the better. Then you position yourself on the sofa in what I call “the nest.” Blanket? Yes. Cushion fortress? Absolutely. Dog Mylo in attendance? Mandatory.

Snack? We’re keeping it gentle. No pickled onions, thank you very much. A nice plain biscuit. Perhaps two, if you’re feeling daring. And a mug of something hot that makes you sigh audibly when you drink it.

Entertainment is simple: nothing spinny, nothing zoomy. We are talking Bluey, Pooh Bear, or a comforting Captain Scarlet rerun—because if anyone can keep you steady after carsickness, it’s a man in an indestructible suit.

And then—best bit—you simply allow yourself to do nothing. Marvel at the sheer genius of your body for saying, “You know what? I’m tired of zooming about. Nest time, please.” Cosy nights in: the true glamour. Such fun.
