If there were a big fire that destroyed your house and everything you love - if your house were a story, anyway - which parts would you take with you? There's only one way to find out.
You will need:
- Some cellotape
- Some small pieces of sugar paper
- A pair of safety scissors
- A ballpoint pen
- A piece of paper
Draw two medium sized rectangles on the sugar paper and then cut them out according to their size. Fold the small bits at the side and stick them onto the piece of paper with cellotape. Draw the top of the exit door over it, and write 'EXIT' above it in big capital letters with the ballpoint pen.
Once you've done that, and it's big enough for all your best story ideas to fit in, write down your favourite scenes from your idea outside the door. Then, draw some fire shapes on the orange and yellow pieces of sugar paper and stick them atop one another - orange first, yellow last, inside near the doors of the Exit Room.
So the next time there is a fire, remember: the most valued possessions are the scenes of the story you really want! If there is a fire, which I doubt there won't be.
