Run N Raid: An Alternate Writing Activity

Writing a story can require loads of sitting down.
And breaking the sofa under your weight.
And staring at a screen.
Luckily, it can be active! And what better way to do it then through a treasure hunt? Oh wait...a scavenger hunt, I presume.

You will need:
A stopwatch or timer
A piece of paper
Some crayons
A notebook
Ballpoint pens

Draw five things that you have found in your head while thinking up your idea - based on the five senses, draw something from the idea you can touch, taste, see, hear or smell.

Set a timer for 30 seconds and run around the house or garden looking for things that relate to the sensations you saw in your idea. When the timer rings, pause it and gather all the items into a small bag.

Sit at the table - or a sofa or armchair, doesn't matter - and draw each of the things you found, writing down how they mirror the sensations you saw in your idea. For example, if you got a seashell from a trip to the beach, will it make you feel some fossils that haven't been touched for years? If you've got a My Little Pony doll, will it be the centre of a MLP fanfic idea? If you've got a comic, does it spawn any ideas already?

Whatever you draw, it doesn't even matter. Running and raiding is the best way to keep fit and write stories all at the same time!
