Pipkin's real father is Woundwort. After Woundwort killed his mother out of rage for her love for him being more important than his love for her son, Pipkin ran away and was adopted by both Bigwig and Fiver. They encouraged him to help his father find out the meaning of love and why it is important than evil and death.
