Some of the kids' characters on Netflix are starting to become my absolute favourites. Take Ork-O from the 2021 He Man series for instance. He's a robotic wizard with an excited personality and sometimes depressed attitude who doesn't appear in some episodes of the show, mainly practising magic or wandering caves to see the history of Grayskull, which doesn't appear in the show at all. He Man has become a big muscular Pikachu, while Ork-O is an adorable little robot who just wants a bit of attention. Oi, pssstt, I heard in one episode he brought forth characters from He Man: Revelations (not the real Orko, though he appeared in one episode). Grow up, will ya?!
Anyway, Ork-O first appeared when Duncan found Orko's old memory chip and placed it into a little robot. In an instant, he found clothes and became....DRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR....ORKO! Whoops, Ork-O.
But the sad news? Poor thing. He just wants a bit of attention. In the series, he tries to help out, but either Adam, Krass, Teela, Duncan or Cringer just tell him to shove off and practise magic someplace else. Actually, in the world of Netflixland in Sybil & Friends, he is ignored a lot and deemed useless. Luckily, he befriended my six year old self and her gang of new friends, and together they battled the evil Mr Warlock and his plans to bring patriarchy to Netflix's gentlest shows. Go Ork-O!
So it isn't much of a sad story anyway, isn't it? This Orko is a lot more friskier and playful than Revelations Orko, who is wise and gentle to my 6 year old self and is the best out of all her Netflix friends. When they play in the Primitive Lands, Ork-O likes to play peekaboo behind Big Tree with Sybil and Mangey Tails - in fact, Mangey Tails and Ork-O get on really well. You can even find the little robot magician asleep on Walter's back, among his glossy black fur, when the gang sleep out in the rough together if time allows it. And they LOVE it.
Ork-O deserves more respect. What do YOU think?
