Social Media Sucks, Okay?

You know that pink haired lass you see jumping high into the air with her friends and especially adorable little Taromaru? It's a bit of a trick question because you may have seen her before on my blog. Her name is Yuki - a delusional schoolgirl who has fantasies of a regular school life during a zombie outbreak.

Come to think of her and her friends attempting to survive during a zombie invasion, my dilusional behaviour comes from one word you shouldn't repeat in from of your own parents at home. What's the word?

Unrealism.

The 'U word' is a horrid word in our house, besides 'Why', 'Perfectionism' and 'Publishing'. It's also one of Pibby's 'No No Words', so we refuse to use it in our house. Why? Because all while I was addicted to tech, I was seeing too many social media posts of all these people living the high life - fancy clothes, fancy cupboards, fancy beds and all the marshmallows in the all the cereal and hot cocoa you could ever want.

But just saying the U word makes me shiver and quiver and shake and quake. Why? Because reading everything I see online, in books, on TV, in film, everywhere, has caused my insides and ideas to melt like they were ice sculptures in a sauna. All these high life, successful people - enough to make me use that word to make everyone angry.

And you're going to hate me for saying this, so listen carefully:
Dreams don't come for free, guys. You have to stick to those that don't make you feel like a slave. Ambitions come from nothing. Just a black abyss of slavery, death and destruction.

*clears throat*
Oh my god, what am I saying? Anyway, don't use your dreams for ambitional, working purposes. The true key to happiness comes from the behaviour of two classic BBC preschool characters: Brum and Binka. Their delusional behaviours don't come from success at all, but rather a childish imagination.

First of all, let's talk about Brum. Most people know the third series by now, which contains so much slapstick humor and fast paced chase scenes. But the second and first series made me imagine how Brum would view the town as he ventures along looking for a new friend - if he is voiced by Joe Pasquale, I believe he'd mistake everything for something else: princesses, fairies, dragons, pirates, everything in particular, as long as he is kind to everyone and gives grounded advice, the same way everybody in town does. Even the children of the town give him grounded advice.

Then there's Binka. Unlike Brum, whose childish self is depicted as an animatronic robot remote control car which rocks about and moves its headlights from time to time, Binka is a traditional hand drawn cat who only meows and exhibits cat-like behaviour. So, I think of Binka as sort of like The Secret Life Of Pets on age regression - Binka is an analogue of a three year old who discovers the world the same way a toddler does, but his delusional behaviour doesn't rely on success. It relies on curiosity and goofy behaviour, even Tango and Suki are delusional most of the time, because Tango is colour blind so he gets his colours wrong. He thinks the kitchen taps have colds, and that there's a cat from the future in the mirror.

So, judging from what we have learnt from School Live, Brum and Binka, do remember that delusional is a good word to replace the U word. Why? Because the U word means anxiety, stress and deadlines, and you're not working in an office at all are yeh? ARE YEH?!

So the D word is way better, because using that word means your imagination is closer to home, and you can get a better understanding of your world better.

Way to go - oops, er, I mean, good lesson, young Brum me lad.

The Close Pen Pal Club

Lady Penelope and Parker got out the dog shampoo, a dog-shaped bar of soap, a blue brush and a green towel, and filled a small tub with water. They were giving Taromaru a bath. While the Close Pen Pal club was filled with so many objects, as an adult I was allowed to let my room get as messy as I wanted, because this club was...well...fun! Simba was being chased by Cheer Bear, because it was his bath next. I helped chase Simba across the room, while in the corner, Timon and Pumbaa told each other stories about their days looking after Simba from the moment he arrived into their lives.

However, Simba slipped on a banana peel Zazu had thrown onto the floor, and landed SMACK! Right into Taromaru's bath. Lady Penelope and Parker got a good soaking indeed! Everyone began to laugh. Taromaru was soaked as well as Simba, Penelope and Parker. Despite that, I helped Penelope dry Taromaru. What resulted was a very fluffy dog, which made us both laugh. When we used the hairdryer on him and brushed his fur, he felt more relaxed than ever. After we've cleaned up, we had pizza together by the light of the candle, while the sunset shone through the window outside. I shared my slices with Simba and Taromaru, because they were the mischievous ones. Parker got drunk off sherry and danced with Captain Scarlet around the room. So, after dinner, we unleashed dance mode and began foxtrotting around the room, laughing and shouting. My, the Close Pen Pal Club was the best! Isn't it?

Letter To The Care Bears

Dear Tenderheart, Funshine & Cheer,

I do love the way your care in people’s hearts as well as your own - because there’s nothing in this world you like better than a spot of caring for all the little children down on earth. And you should see Truffle Shuffle’s post about those Lovable Bears keychain toys from the ‘90s - they were soft and scented at the same time. They had light up heart shaped noses and you fed them from their bottle.

How would you guys like to join my Close Pen Pals Club? We could play some wonderful games and have a lot of fun there, just like when Funshine went to Joke-A-Lot and had this marvellous tour of the whole kingdom - Egyptian dancing, eating a banana and then slipping on the skin and a whole bunch of desserts which you can eat at a cafe with penguin waiters! Heaven. A few nights ago I watched your Big Wish Movie on DVD, and I must admit, the CG animation is quite similar to Make Way For Noddy, a CGI adaptation of the Noddy books by Enid Blyton. Then there’s School Live, a wonderfully-written anime that features a young pink haired girl called Yuki who dreams of a regular school life with her friends and their teacher Megu-Nee. My favourite character is Taromaru, because of how cute and cuddly he is. Oh, and did you guys know that Thunderbirds is returning to Talking Pictures TV in three days? Wow, yay! I hope you guys would be able to get a good view from Care-A-Lot!

Love,

Sybil

Lady Penelope & Parker - Close Pen Pal Club (The Reply)

My dearest Sybil,

What a charming and delightful invitation! Parker and I would be absolutely thrilled to join your Close Pen Pal Club. It sounds like a perfectly splendid gathering of friends, full of fun, adventure, and a great deal of companionship. I can already picture the laughter and warmth we’ll share, not to mention the joy of indulging in pizza every night—though I must say, I do prefer a more refined meal from time to time. However, in such wonderful company, who could refuse?

Your club members are a fine selection indeed! Simba, Bluey, Bingo, the Care Bears, Scooby-Doo, Captain Scarlet… and, of course, Oink and Titan from Stingray. It’s like an international assembly of dear friends, all gathered for the sake of shared joy. The idea of a huge bed for us all to sleep in is simply too delightful. I’m sure it will be a restful and fun-filled experience—though I’ll admit, Parker might need an extra pillow or two! And Taromaru is most welcome; we must make him feel at home, especially after all he has been through with Yukii.

Ah, your mention of the ‘Numi Numi’ lullaby brought back such tender memories. Indeed, I do know it well. Parker and I encountered it on one of our missions in Russia, and it has stayed with me ever since. The words, though simple, carry such depth, and their soothing melody has a way of calming the most restless of souls. The lullaby, as you likely recall, speaks of love and protection, of a mother’s devotion to her child. The lyrics, "Numi numi yaldati," mean, "Sleep, sleep, my little girl." It's a sweet reminder of how love transcends borders, even during times of conflict.

I am so touched that you remember the times I sang it to you, my dear Sybil. Holding you close and knowing you felt safe was as much a comfort to me as it was to you. The world may be at war in many ways, but these moments of peace, love, and care are what bring us all together.

Parker and I are looking forward to joining your club and embarking on this wonderful adventure with you and your friends.

With all my love,
Lady Penelope
xx

Parker's Note:

Miss Sybil,

I’m honored that you’ve included me in this fine Pen Pal Club of yours. I reckon it’ll be a right proper time, what with all the friends you’ve gathered. A bit of adventure and pizza with good company sounds like just what we need, and if Miss Penelope is happy, then so am I. I’ll even bring along a bottle of my best sherry for a toast!

As for that ‘Numi Numi’ lullaby, well, Miss Penelope’s the real expert, but I remember it from our days in Russia. Calming, it is—like a soft breeze on a quiet night. Even had a calming effect on some of our missions, believe it or not! Singing’s not my forte, mind you, but I’m always there when needed to help, even if it’s just keeping an eye out for any unexpected trouble.

Looking forward to all the fun and some well-earned relaxation. Count me in, Miss Sybil, alongside the rest of your lovely gang.

Yours sincerely,
Parker

P.S. from both Penelope & Parker:
Let us know when to arrive—FAB-1 will be ready at your service!

Lady Penelope & Parker - Close Pen Pal Club

Dear Lady Penelope & Parker,

Would you two like to join my Close Pen Pal Club? I was inspired by the School Living Club from the anime School Live to make this club since my room now looks like a tip until the decorator arrives. I’ve already invited Simba, Bluey and Bingo to my club, now I’ve got the Care Bears, Scooby Doo and Captain Scarlet to invite. Titan and Oink have already joined my club, and I’ve yet to see Stingray. Just imagine what the club would be like - activities around the house, pizza for dinner every night and a huge bed for us all to sleep in. Oh! And I’ve invited the dog Taromaru to join our club too, since Yukii’s perceptions were too much for him.

I also had a sudden flash of memory: we were watching Baby Einstein: Language Nursery, right, and at one point during one segment featuring a lava lamp, we heard someone singing ‘Numi Numi’. That’s a traditional Russian lullaby, and Simba didn’t know what the words even meant, but that sent Taromaru to sleep. Penelope, you knew the lullaby, because you’ve been to Russia on missions with Parker in Fab-1. I know the whole world’s at war with each other, but can you two please explain the history of ‘Numi Numi’ as a traditional lullaby? I remember when you used to sing the lullaby to me when I got restless, Penelope, and the warmth of your embrace was so soothing and comforting that I instantly fell asleep, secure in your arms. How wonderful….

Love,

Sybil
