I know this may sound like a typical average aesthetical title for a children’s book, but this is a fanfiction, so please get on it will you?
Anyway…
One night on Halloween, Tin Tin and I couldn’t sleep. We were sleeping in only our knickers, but Alan was snuggled deep under the soft covers of our bed, listening to the violent rain and thunder. But the louder the thunder got, the more frightened Tin Tin and I became. One loud crash and a seizure causing flash of lightning from outside caused us to huddle in fear, screaming.
Alan knew how much we were afraid of the thunder, so he rolled over to both of us and whispered, very patiently:
“Oh dear, oh, oh my babies. It’s Halloween night. The ghosties and ghoulies aren’t going to get you both.”
Tin Tin yawned and hugged Alan sleepily.
“I understand,” she whispered as soft as a baby’s button nose.
“When I was a little girl living on that Malaysian island, I was scared of thunder. I still am today. No wonder the daughter of our co-parent that’s still our’s is always frightened by those crashing cymbals in the sky. I was just like her when I was her age. I would get so scared by the storms, I would fear the sea might come in so far it might flood our island. I would run to my mama, Colette, and snuggle into her arms, and she was so patient with me.
She’d shush me quiet, and tell me that everything will be alright. And then, she would soothe me to sleep with the softest, gentlest lullaby anyone on my island ever sung.”
“In that case, how’s about I be your Colette?” asked Alan. Tin Tin gazed into his eyes, and imagined her mother to be right here. She felt small tears drip down her lovely, smooth face as she said:
“Don’t just do it for me, mama. Do it for my daughter. Lady Penelope made her to be just like you. From my sperm and her sperm combined - all from that simple lab experiment. Or was it? I can’t remember.”
Alan chuckled, and held Tin Tin close to the warmth of his bare chest. I was carefully sandwiched in between, feeling like the cheese to Alan’s bread and Tin Tin’s butter. Alan kissed her forehead, stroked her soft, silky raven dark pillow head hair, as she sighed in softness and comfort.
He had plenty of time to focus on me. He did the same to me, and I found it tickled - Alan was always the kind of father who would act like a soppy cat or dog when need be, and yet every single bonding moment that involved touch really soothed me.
Not only did he soften me, he was soothing enough to Tin Tin as well. Tin Tin felt as if she was about to cry, feeling Alan’s tender touch on her soft hair and skin. As tiny tears dripped from Tin Tin’s eyes, Alan gently wiped them away with one finger.
“Aaaaawww…it’s alright, honey. Everything’s going to be okay.” sighed Alan.
“Mama…you’re back.” sobbed Tin Tin in a hushed, whispering tone.
“I still live on inside me,” said Alan in his best impression - or his worst one - of Colette.
“You’ll always remember me, won’t-”
But then, a great gushing howling noise roared from outside. Alan quickly cowered under the covers, whimpering like a dog. Tin Tin placed her soft, silky hand on Alan’s shoulder.
“Alan Alan Alan…” she said in the most soothing tone ever,
“What can be wrong?”
“I’m scared,” whined Alan childishly,
“Of the wind.”
Suddenly, we heard someone scratching at the door and whining. Then the door opened, and who should enter but Parker - and of course, Alan’s labrador, Toby. He is ENORMOUS!
(No no no no, I meant Toby, not Parker.)
Parker chuckled as Toby galloped into the room and leapt onto the bed, his tongue waggling like a happy werewolf tail.
“Looks like someone wants to meet you two.”
“Aaaaaaawwww,” we both said in adoring kindness, and all of us began cuddling and tickling Toby, laughing and giggling. It may unfortunately be the perfect weather for Halloween, but cuddling Toby was the ultra super perfect way to get to sleep. He was so glad to see his daddy, Alan, and his mummy, Tin Tin, and his best mate, me, that at first he could hardly sleep at all.
But then the violent storm died down as we all settled to sleep, Alan cuddling Toby, Tin Tin cuddling me, as memories of her life on her Malaysian island filled her mind.
And guess what else?
The wind became much calmer and softer as the rain became a gentle October shower.
*in a gentle whisper*
Happy Halloween.
