I HAVE THE-" *record scratch*
Heck no you're not watching Revolution! I've found Revelation really sad, and for some of you who like this series, I respect your opinion, but the real Orko is just as better - the ones from the 1980's and 2002 are the best. So, here are 10 vignettes to look forward to instead of that upsetting He Man series.
10.Let's Be Friends
In this vignette, Orko lives all alone in a Crystal Palace, wishing for some company or a friend. That is until the day he adopts a baby lioness cub named Furaha and raises her as his own sister. The rest of the vignette chronicles Furaha's transitions from baby to cub as she grows up under the loving care of her older brother. The sources of inspiration for this story include East Of The Sun, West Of The Moon and Hetty Feather.
9.A Brother's Warmth.
In a palace not so far away lives Orko, his nursemaids and his uncle. One day, one of Orko's nursemaid sisters gives birth to a cute little baby lioness cub, and Orko promises to be a good big brother to her - and he is. Instead of training her to be a nursemaid with gruelling twists and turns, the family, including Orko, take care of her and play with her - as you do with any child. It's pure gold, like the palace walls, yet really gentle and soft.
8.Fairytale
This is part of the S & Friends series, and is based on the Bluey episode 'Fairytale'. It features the 1980's incarnation of Orko and his best friend, a golden Labrador puppy named Cheese, as they navigate life in the '80s, including everyday life, fashion, cartoon characters (that are actually their neighbours) and more. In addition to this, the vignette also shows scenes involving another 4 year old puppy called Cream and her giant friend Optimus Prime, who have a father-daughter-style friendship since she and her girly sister Cake only have a mother. Don't worry, I assure you that young Bandit, Stripe and Rad feature in this vignette too, and so do other characters from the '80s He Man series as well.
7.Fairytale: Whispering Winds
More haunting and mysterious than any '80s dark fantasy film, in this vignette we see Cheese and Orko make their way along a dark, natural landscape, exploring their surroundings with ease and finding their way along this mysterious land. In the second half of the vignette, we see Optimus Prime and Cream make the same journey, which shows Optimus' ability to care for and protect the young pup. The vignette itself is inspired by a piece of Land Before Time music called 'Whispering Winds' and '80s dark fantasy films like The Dark Crystal and Secret Of The NIMH.
6.Me, You, And...The Legend Begins
Inspired by the 2011 Thundercats series, which came out years after 2002's He Man, this peaceful adventure follows Furaha and Orko living with their mother, father and uncle in a beautiful palace. They go on a journey which will be passed on in future generations, a ritual which will take them on a journey to introduce them to the entire kingdom. From running along a beach and playing in the forest to nourishing their souls in the waters of the Valley Of Life, Furaha and Orko have a lot to discover on their journey.
5.Vortex: A Me, You, And...Legend
Epic and intriguing and inspired by anime like Escaflowne and The Promised Neverland, this is a sweeping vignette that features Furaha, Orko and Optimus Prime (I'm talking about Armada, not G1) in a world for lion cubs without parents. Here, Furaha's parents are slightly different in her backstory, but the rest of the story features our friends exploring the boundaryless natural plain of Vortex, from grasslands to jungles and beaches and snowy mountains. Oh, and did I also mention it's based on a block on the Canadian kids' channel YTV? Yeah, you got me right.
4.A Weekend With Orko
I had this idea earlier last week, and it was inspired by the He Man Weekend Marathon former cartoon channel Toonami had in the UK back when I was three years old. However, the setting is slightly different, as this one is set in London and features Furaha and Orko enjoying a weekend full of jazz music, chilling out, cupcakes for afternoon tea and swimming. That's what happens when you mix British values, the 2002 He Man series AND jazz music - this vignette happens.
3.The Nursery In Trolla
Ah, it's nice to imagine the 2002 Orko back in Trolla, away from his horrible life in Eternia. That's what happens in this smooshy-wooshy, cuddly vignette, where Orko and Furaha end up back on Trolla in another one of Furaha's dreams, this time outside the nursery where Orko used to work - this is why Orko is good with babies, toddlers and children, because he's simple this way. First, Furaha and Orko cuddle and care for the newborns in the Newborn Room, and when cuddling one of the babies, Furaha claims that the newborns are like velvet to her fur. Next, they play in the Baby Room, where baby Trollans play and crawl about. Orko and Furaha play with the babies, and Furaha does a trick where she says, "Look - toes!" and one of the baby Trollans gently takes hold of it, to which Furaha giggles joyfully. It's nice caring for Trollan babies, isn't it?
2.A Hug For A Caretaker
This takes place in an alternate universe where Orko is a caretaker to little Furaha, and she was just a toddler in this vignette. Simple and short, this vignette takes place on Hugging Day, the most special day of the year according to Furaha. She begins the day by cuddling her caretaker, then they play under the duvet, with Furaha pretending to be a cave lion. Afterwards, it's tickling on the sofa before Orko and his toddler friend set up a blanket fort in the living room, enjoying cocoa, cake and a story before settling for a gentle hug in the afternoon. Aaaaahhhh...nice and soft and cuddly.
1.A Brother's Freedom, A Hand To Hold & Nowhere
Nothing explains the purity of friendships like ones where Furaha and Orko wander through nature and talk about what makes them friends, like Christopher Robin and Winnie The Pooh used to do. In these vignettes, Furaha and Orko wander across natural scenery as they engage in conversations about what makes them friends, from running across fields of grass and lavender to crossing streams near large waterfalls. Nothing explores friendship like the comfort of nature, which will bond our two friends like the bond of a family.
