My Top 8 Favourite My Pride Moments

Because My Pride is reaching its final two episodes this weekend, I thought I'd share my top 8 favourite My Pride moments that happened last year.
  1. Starmane & Spark's Death/Nothing Gets Her Injury. Ah, February 2020. We may have lost Scream Street because of Boy Girl Dog Cat Mouse Cheese and (censored to avoid bad luck), but remember, with one show's six month loss comes another show's appeal! In between the premieres of CBeebies shows Love Monster in January and Dog Loves Books in March, My Pride struck out from any other Youtube show, and it started with a bang. Quickmane biting down hard on Starmane like a vampire is so intense, as is him crushing Spark under his huge paws, before Nothing faces off with him, leading to her first vision of The Shifting Place and a young Ghost. I first set it to Arabian music and sounds of water running, because I was thinking about Me, You, And Transformers Cybertron at the time.
  2. Nothing's Naming Ceremony. The new series of Gym Stars brought thoughts of murder and people getting run over by cars (ha, that rhymed!). This is why this scene from episode 2 of My Pride was most important to me - because not only did memories of last month's episode enter her brain as she tried to prove worthy of her name, but this horrifying above image of Spark getting crushed by Quickmane is sure to give us chills. And when Powerstrike gave Nothing her name, I was sure she would become my friend. I could even recite her line, "As the hunt chief of this pride, I put forward that this lioness shall hence forth be known as...Nothing! All in agreement, lend me your voices." Later, when she met Hover, I found another new best friend. It just goes to show that you can make new best friends and keep the old in the shake of a lion's tail! Speaking of Gym Stars, I'm glad I avoided them, but are Phoebe and Dove by any chance Issie's henchmen? Alisa is, I know she is.

  3. Sharptongue's Death. When Sharptongue started choking telling the story of the goddesses to Nothing and the cubs (including Feather's derp-eyed sister), I thought something was wrong with her - and there was something wrong. This lead to a funeral under the stars, as Powerstrike and the lionesses called to Asra to take Sharptongue's body away. In my stories, they're not canon to My Pride, so Sharptongue is still alive - I predict her as a wise lioness who likes to tell stories and folk tales to the young ones, and we are inspired by her tales to create new games and have new ideas. One of my I.B.F.Fs stories, 'Folk Tales' sees me, Luke, Resus and Cleo surprise Sharptongue after she tells us the African folk tale 'Cheetah & The Lazy Hunter' with a re-enactment of the story.

  4. Nothing Meets The No-Manes. Episode 4 didn't contain nothing intense, so it was much needed room to introduce a family of brothers known as the No Mane clan. When Fire introduces Nothing and Feather to the No-Manes, they give off the cheekiest facial expressions, and there's one goofy No-Mane who befriends a mouse. Maybe TribbleOfDoom's favourite tale is 'The Lion & The Mouse'? Maybe she was inspired by this story to make this moment. The No-Manes' friendly, funny faces prove that My Pride doesn't have to be scary and not for kids - it can be for anyone, money no objects.

  5. All Of Episode 5. Almost everything happens in this episode - Nothing and Quickmane get into an argument, Nothing gets scratched violently round the face, it rains, Hover berates Nothing, Quickmane is killed by a new Mane...phew! Note to worried people: this episode premiered one month before Mystic premiered on CBBC, so if you're too scared to watch Mystic, Gym Stars or Heirs Of The Night, then My Pride is a place of comfort.

  6. Nothing's Nightmare. My Pride and Scream Street returned in August, so it gave me time to introduce Luke, Resus and Cleo to my new four-legged lioness friends. No wonder Scream Street is still around during the pandemic, there's 21 more new episodes to see! Anyway, Nothing's nightmare in episode 6 is intense - Nothing wanders the Shifting Place to find Hover standing there with white, pupiless eyes and a huge bloody gash on her neck, then Ghost appears just as Nothing falls to her death, until one of the goddesses appears before her. I have to admit, Rain's talk about the Shifting Place is satisfying too, and I've even named a place in episode 4 of Mr. Benn after that Shifting Place.

  7. Farleap Defends Hover. Now, I was extra excited that month because Scream Street was going to make its return with new character Six. Episode 7 of My Pride was nothing to brag about, as it's a boring adventure in the life of the once-sarcastic, wisecracking lesbie lioness Hover. The only thing interesting about this episode is the new Mane confronting Hover until Farleap jumps in front of her to defend her. It's proven to be an incredible act of bravery, even when you're trying to prove your worth to your lioness best friends, who just so happen to be lesbians.

  8. The Emerald Valley Pride. October was a much-needed break from My Pride giving me a chance to hang out with Love Monster in the first half of the month, then enjoy a whole week of new Scream Street - new character Six, a sexy spa, Cleo crying her eyes out over her cat Tut-Tut falling into the Underlands, Wolfgang making a return, Luke learning about human reproduction through cloning and two new friends that I may not see in a long time - Dr. F and Six. Sadly, Scream Street went on another hiatus in November, but at the end of the month, My Pride returned just as we had to help Grandma, who had fallen very ill. My favourite part of the episode is seeing all those Emerald Valley lions together, and Kyoga and Lite as cubs playing together. This proves all these lions are altogether as a family, creating new social bonds and strengthening old ones, learning life's lessons from the wise and brave and staying together no matter how bad things get, like the times we are in now. I feel like Nothing, Hover and Feather are a part of my family too instead. That scene with Lite confronting Kyoga and Karabi was intense, especially when Lite slashed at Karabi and Kyoga turned into Asra. There was also a min-vid with Karabi singing out her relationship with Kyoga:
Yes, 2020 had been a difficult year, but I found the lighter side of it - Scream Street, My Pride, Esme & Roy, Love Monster, Dog Loves Books and Bluey! And this weekend, I'll enjoy it even more. Let's pray to God that Six is there to see all this unfold...
