Scream Street Thought Of The Day - Mirror Mirror

Reflections. They're here everywhere you look be it in a mirror or in the water, but for Resus Negative his reflection makes him so unhappy, because he's the only vampire with a reflection - and I feel for him. But, for one, there's only one calm place where you can see your reflection more clearly: water. Water is much clearer and smoother than mirror glass, because your reflection ripples in the sunlight or moonlight, and you get to ponder your identity here, feeling things you haven't felt before, like emotion or faith or wonder. If I let Resus do exactly that, he'd be moved to tears by how he looks, and how he feels about being born and raised in a family of vampires when he's considered a normal by the other residents of Scream Street. But look at the series - there's no lake in Scream Street! There's not even a swimming pool! Apart from the muddy lake that appears in 'The Brown Lagoon', mostly, but if there were a secret swimming pool in Scream Street, it'd be the place where Resus goes to look at his reflection in smooth, clean water, like Narcissus. Speaking of Narcissus, he was a man who admired his reflection loads and loads of times, and always thought about himself. But one day, he leaned too far and drowned - and this is why we have a white daffodil like plant called Narcissus, but Narcissuses appear on the graves in the graveyard in Scream Street, and this is why they thought of the idea of a normal raised by vampires with a reflection who doesn't drown like a man from Greek mythology. If they talked about Narcissus on a CBBC show explaining and bringing Greek mythology to life, they'd talk about reflections a lot in this episode, and why when we look at our reflections we are reminded of Resus Negative. So, back to the calm stuff. Stare into the water. Now, feel it. Does the water feel as smooth as your skin? Yes? Then you know you are totally human, but since you watch Scream Street like I do, you embrace your inner freak, like the residents do - they all learn to do that by the end of 'Mirror Mirror', but if you happen to watch this episode, you think of water, and water and the reflections you see in it makes you happy that you are human, and if Resus watches this episode and then runs to the lake to look at his reflection, he's happy to know that he's a normal pretending to be a vampire, even though he tries everything to be like his parents. So, to all of us, Resus is a representation of the fact that we are happy to be alive. You hear that, Alston and Bella Negative? Your son is the representation of being alive!
