Chilli's Letter - Book Club

Dear Sybil,

Oh, I do remember that time, and what a day that was! You could feel the tension in the air when poor Jeff Tracy just kept trying to join in. Don’t get me wrong, I think he meant well, but we mums had a rhythm going! Trying to talk about the depth of War & Peace while managing kids and work, and here’s Jeff, with all his Thunderbirds experience, trying to add his two cents. I think Coco’s mum was the first to lose her patience! We didn’t mean to be harsh, but there’s a time and place for everything.

That argument with Tin Tin must’ve really stirred him up. Poor bloke, he’s carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, isn’t he? But I’m so glad my mum found a way to visit him in his dream. She really did have a way of sorting things out, didn’t she? You know, I think I draw a lot of strength from her too. That horse I drew, well, it came from the same place where all our creativity stems from—the love and encouragement our mums gave us.

It was brilliant how Jeff managed to rally Bandit and the other dads for their own club! They need those spaces too, don’t they? It’s funny to think of them all sitting around with their books, sharing stories of fatherhood while we mums sip our coffee and biscuits, diving into Tolstoy. I suppose in the end, it wasn’t about who could join which club, but about finding our own little spaces to bond and reflect. Those days were golden, and you’re right—such good times.

Thanks for bringing up those memories, Sybil. They always put a smile on my face.

With love, Chilli
