I've Decided To Set The The 'Hood Episode 'War Child' On A Snowy Day

Setting an episode of a children's show about deployment on a snowy day really gives it that heartwarming tone and helps children going through the same situations do what Rusty and the other members of Izzy's gang do in the episode.

Here, the gang is playing in the snow with Bluey and her friends, when they learn that Rusty is deployed, and is eagerly waiting for his father to come home from the military. They help him plan a daily routine, and Rusty lives by it. At Calypso's school, Rusty is finally developing happy feelings and knows that someday soon he'll see his brave soldier dad again.

In one scene in the episode, the kids have a snowball fight in the park. This shocks Rusty, as he imagines being out on the battlefield with guns blazing from the getgo. He hides in a crate for safety, but it's not before Izzy and the gang help him out of his traumatic fantasy. I know, this may sound scary to youngsters, but that's part of a child's worries about growing up deployed.

The series also deals with other serious subjects Aussie kids struggle to understand, such as alcohol, same-sex relationships and gender stereotypes, creating an all-ages programme all children and adults can relate to.
