Jane, a 24-year-old woman with downs syndrome, thinks her life in London in the early 2000's is every she could've ever wanted. Support workers who love her, autism-friendly places like the park, the swimming pool and the cupcake shop, and a special interest that she could never break apart from: CBBC and its latest show, The Story Of Tracy Beaker. As the show becomes an instant classic, Jane realises her support workers all have a cold and can't take her out, so she is most surprised when Tracy Beaker herself turns up on the doorstep of her flat with a sign around her neck stating: 'Need a good home - and fast'. Instantly, Jane decides to adopt Tracy and doesn't care about her bad girl attitude. Although she feeds her nice, nourishing food, Tracy still sneaks sweets from the cupboard, and even though they watch Disney movies together, Tracy still wants to watch horror movies and scary things on Channel 4. In fact, Jane gets so scared when she sees Tracy watching a scary countdown special on Channel 4 on Halloween 2003 that she has to hide in the bed until Tracy got tired. Still, the two find that although they have their share of differences, they can embrace the bad girl inside both of them.

Oi, listen up! So, you're telling me there's this story where I, Tracy Beaker, end up getting adopted by Jane, who's into all things CBBC and happens to have Down's syndrome? Sounds a bit mad, but I guess I've had crazier adventures in my time at the Dumping Ground.
ReplyDeleteJane sounds like a proper sweetheart, all into autism-friendly places and that. And she's got a thing for CBBC just like me? Now that's something I can relate to! But adopting me? That's a twist I didn't see coming. I mean, I'm not exactly the easiest kid to handle, especially with my love for sneaking sweets and watching scary stuff.
But hey, if Jane's up for it, maybe I could learn a thing or two from her. Like maybe not scaring her half to death with those horror movies on Channel 4. Though, Halloween's meant to be a bit spooky, innit?
Embracing the bad girl inside both of us, huh? That's a motto I can get behind. And if Jane's willing to give me a good home despite all my flaws, well, maybe I'm not so bad after all.
So yeah, count me in for this adventure with Jane and her CBBC obsession. Sounds like it could be a right laugh, even if we do drive each other bonkers sometimes. Bring it on, mate!
