Luke & Resus Review: Me, You, And Sonic X

 

RESUS: Isn't it strange how playing Sonic The Hedgehog games is the real world's equivalent of playing Zombie Kickboxer?

LUKE: Sonic is 30% cooler than fighting zombies. You fight robots! I used to love that game back in the real world, but look - seeing Sonic with the lions unleashes his wild side.

RESUS: I think you meant Me, You, And Sonic X.

LUKE: That's exactly what we're talking about in today's review. So, the film starts with a flashback to Sonic's childhood. When Sonic was young, his parents left him with Vanilla the rabbit and her baby daughter, Cream. Sonic was very good and waited for his parents, but all they brought back was some presents. Shouldn't Sonic say thank you?

RESUS: Forget film logic, we're not Rhett & Link. The film skips ahead to the present day, where a fierce storm transports the family to Green Hill Zone, where Sonic and his friends live. Sonic abducts Furaha, and the two unexpectedly and nearly defeat Eggman together, causing...

BOTH: Chaos Control!

*The two laugh*

LUKE: Good one, Resus.

RESUS: And Furaha sees a new and mysterious Me, You, And...exclusive character. Her name is Isabelle the raccoon, but she's yet to be identified. Anyway, Furaha finds Lanka and they find refuge in the Thorndyke household, where they witness Chris rescue Sonic.

LUKE: Who? Chris Thorndyke?

RESUS: Yep.

LUKE: And what's with the cubs making breakfast for themselves?

RESUS: Let's jump ahead - Kiburi said the cubs are able to make food for themselves. Anyway, Sonic takes Furaha for a little morning run and leaves her at the harbour to let her find Tails.

LUKE: That's cruel.

RESUS: She eventually finds Tails and her parents Kiburi and Ua tangled up in rope. She frees them, and frees Tails' plane, Tornado 2, as well.

LUKE: They go to Area 99 just in time to rescue Sonic and Cream, and in the next scene, Lanka and Cream form a close friendship over brushing their teeth, from squirting toothpaste on their faces to naming their teddy bear and crocodile tootbrushes.

RESUS: Nice little nod to Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers.

LUKE: What?

RESUS: Y'know, Tails standing outside the bathroom with a towel and a toothbrush with tired eyes and then getting smacked by the door!

LUKE: Cream, Lanka and Cheese have cornflakes and buttered toast for breakfast and...hey! Tails is wearing glasses and reading the newspaper! What has our friend Sybil made Tails into?

RESUS: An orange-furred bookworm, that's who.

LUKE: I find Sonic's backstory quite sad, but I find the movie so engaging you can literally relate to the characters in an instant.

RESUS: So, I'm like Shadow...

LUKE: And I'm like Sonic! But he's not introduced yet, so...race you!

RESUS: Oi! Come back!
