The Mouse-Cookie Goodnight Routine

Inspired by the If You Give A Mouse A Cookie episode 'Goodnight Mouse', I've invented a new way to enjoy bedtime the same way Mouse and his friends did - 'The Mouse Cookie Goodnight Routine'. By doing the same activities as Dog, Mouse, Cat, Pig, Moose and their friends do, these fun activities will help you prepare for a simple night's rest.
  • Dog's Activity - Crazy Runaround Time - Slip on your favourite pyjamas and run around the room in a wild and crazy way to silly, upbeat and fast music. Make sure you don't turn the volume up, though, the neighbours are preparing for bed too - and maybe they're doing the Mouse-Cookie Goodnight Routine too! It'll help show your kids that staying healthy is vitally important for their wellbeing, especially the next activity...
  • Pig's Activity - Yoga - Take time to do various poses to calm down and think about all the lovely things you did today. I like to think about all the nice things that happened today sometimes, not nasty things like loud noises or little accidents. For a more soothing effect, light a scented candle or put on some relaxing music, and maybe even blow bubbles if you have some.
  • Cat's Activity - Brushing Teeth - Keep track of your child's toothbrushing routine with a two minute egg timer, and maybe sing a favourite nursery rhyme such as 'Wheels On The Bus' or 'Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush' to make it more fun and engaging for your child.
  • Moose's Activity - Porridge Or Another Warm Snack - Before bed, treat your child to a warm snack, such as pizza, sausage rolls, warm sandwiches or...porridge? A nice warm bowl of porridge can make your child more sleepy than any other food used to put children to sleep, such as a spoonful of Nyquil.
  • Mouse's Activity - Do All 6! - Just have a simple bedtime routine. Put on your favourite pyjamas, brush your teeth, fetch a glass of water, choose a favourite stuffed animal and read a bedtime story (or do it in sign language if you're deaf) or sing a lullaby.
With all these sleepytime activities, you can be like Mouse and his friends! IF it's bedtime, THEN...rely on this blog entry to make preparing for bedtime fun and Mouse Cookieish!
