My mum and I used to not give a damn about Halloween. Every time there'd be trick-or-treaters roaming the streets we'd shut off the lights and go to bed early to avoid any candy being stolen. But because of CBBC's Scream Street, that all changed. Now Halloween is a time for not just sweets, dressing up and trick-or-treating, but friendship and hanging out with your best mates, even if your best mates happen to be a werewolf, a vampire and a mummy living in a street full of monsters. If you're watching CBBC, it wouldn't be Halloween without Scream Street. Luke, Resus and Cleo are my best friends, and they've changed the face of Halloween on CBBC, and in the entire world, forever. Halloween is now a time for telling a friend how much you care about them and how much they mean to you and the whole entire world. I'd tell Luke how much I love him, and the differences we share in our anger - my anger because I have autistic meltdowns, and his anger that turns him into a werewolf. I'd tell Resus that there's no need to fear on Halloween, 'cause the only monsters I'm afraid of is ones from trippy psychedelic visions you have when you take drugs. I'd tell Cleo that however she sees her dad, she'll always see me as the best friend ever. In fact, with them around, Halloween is almost like Valentines' day. Top tip for Halloween: if you want to show your friend you really care on Halloween, send them an orange or black Halloween card telling him or her how much you mean to him or her. If I watched Scream Street in Halloween in 2016, I'd send CBBC three heart shaped orange-and-black sugar paper cards for Luke, Resus, and Cleo telling them how much I love them and how much I appreciate them as my best friends in the whole entire world. This month, instead of hide from trick or treaters, I'm going to write cards to Luke, Resus and Cleo wishing them a happy Halloween and telling them how much I love them as a friend, and how much they've changed my life since I first saw them last year. In fact, Luke, Resus and Cleo are the new faces of Halloween on CBBC, in fact they prove that Halloween is not about stuffing your face with candy until you're sick, but it's about spending time with your friends and sharing in cuddly moments like a huge, monstrous, snuggly group hug with your best friends. These three make a healthier Halloween, as you can occasionally eat sugar and you have to eat other stuff as well, like grains and fruits. Halloween will never, from now on, be the same without Luke, Resus and Cleo. If you want to see any more Halloween stuff from them and their CBBC friends, click the link below:
