The Door Of Hope

I was thrown into complete darkness by this angry, screaming horde of CBBC characters, they were holding up signs like “No British People Allowed!” and “Toons Only!”. They slammed the grey door in my face with a loud and jumpscare-inducing BANG! I ran to bang on the door to let me back in again, but the door shrank with squeaking noises and disappeared into a beam of light.

I was alone in the darkness and silence of the inky blackness of the void, whimpering in confusion…until I saw a bright light shine onto me. I ran towards it, and it got closer and closer - until I saw that the light revealed itself to be a beautiful, shiny pink door. I was concerned about whether it would lead to a horrible new world made by the justice-lead CBBC, but now I realised: it was an entirely different door, leading to somewhere entirely different.

I opened the door, and with a creak, it swung open to reveal a beautiful rose garden.

The sky was blue, the grass was green, and there were red and pink roses growing in the hedges. I looked closer, and nearby I could see Bluey and her friends playing, and Lady Penelope and Parker sitting under a pure white gazebo. Upon seeing me, Bluey and her friends cried “WELCOME HOME!” in unison and ran to hug me, causing me to giggle.

Then I felt Lady Penelope swoop me up in her arms and cuddle me softly, as if she were welcoming me too. “Yes, welcome home, darling,” she smiled, and went to settle me down on the gazebo bench, to watch Bluey and the others play happily away under the Spring sunshine, thanks to the magic pink door.

PANEL 1:

EXT. CHURCH GRAVEYARD - DAY.

A whole host of BBC Kids Canada characters and stars are gathered around the grave of their fallen channel, crying and sobbing quietly. I stand at a podium announcing:

(sadly)

BBC Kids was the most remarkable channel in Canada. It was way better than CBBC nowadays, might I explain...but without it, many Canadians would never know that a British TV channel would have an impact on their hearts and lives, just like YTV and Treehouse TV had. And without BBC Kids, I would've never known that....

PANEL 2:

Suddenly, it has now stopped raining, and now the sky is blue with the sun shining. I am in full on party mode, fists in the air and a wild expression on my face. Everyone around me is cheering, jumping up and down and hugging in celebration.

Rose Wolves - A Review

I absolutely love my new Kindle book for this week. The illustrations are as rich as a rose and are so wonderful, it's almost as if you're immersed in the story. Natalie Warner did a good job in telling the story without a single word of dialogue, weaving in values of friendship, disabilities and loss in a delightfully poignant and honestly relatable way, drawing viewers into a world of magic, melancholy and companionship. This story honestly gave me vibes reminiscent of The Fox & The Hound, what with two unlikely friends sticking together through thick and thin, and then parting with each other in an emotional ending.

I give this book about ten stars because of how rich the illustrations were and how deeply bold and brave this friendship story was.

That's where the previous generations of the Water Tribe got their name - from living just near this peaceful waterfall. Without our treasured home, who needs nature to guide us? We are happy in our natural African paradise, all soft and gentle, as we play and thrive in our natural world every day. And me? I just love to snuggle near Penelope, a mother and daughter duo are we, just safely snuggled against one another.
