The Dumping Ground

2013-2019

In 2013, sometime at the beginning of the year, a spin-off of Tracy Beaker Returns showed up on TV. It was the feature length premiere of a show called The Dumping Ground.

CBBC viewers had a lot of good times with their favourite shows, but the Dumping Ground was the highlight of all the drama series that aired on CBBC this decade. No one could forget all the happy times the YP, Mike and May-Li shared at Ashdene Ridge, previously known as Elmtree House in The Story Of Tracy Beaker, including the unusual times like when Jody entered Wonderland - of course, we all remember that, and we also remember Dumping Ground Island too. Yesterday, we were forced to say a heartfelt goodbye to Sasha, Tyler, Jody, Floss, Finn, Taz, Sid, Jay, Bird, Mike and everyone who was present at the Dumping Ground from the moment it premiered. To me, I wish I had seen the 2010's on CBBC unfold and shows like Strange Hill High and Scream Street take their places, but even CBBC characters and stars have to keep strong, because the beloved group of care kids that have shaped CBBC since 2002's Tracy Beaker series. It's too late for me, but to some of you who watched CBBC, the Dumping Ground, alongside The Worst Witch, was the best live-action series the channel could air. Now, this Christmas, we remember the Dumping Ground with a heavy heart and an open mind. I've been so foolish in the last few years, and I wish I'd seen it all, living a better decade instead of ignoring CBBC and CBeebies. The Dumping Ground will be remembered forever as one of the crown jewels of CBBC, alongside Strange Hill High and Scream Street. We will also remember the cast who took part in this wonderful show, and the great kids who came and went to the Dumping Ground over the years. Every show present from 2013 onwards means the whole world to CBBC and to me as well - but at school, I wish I'd been happy with my friends and teachers the same way the YP are happy in Ashdene Ridge. It's Like My TV Is Having A Panic Attack....

Anyone overwhelmed by CBBC's newest cartoon, Boy Girl Dog Cat Mouse Cheese? Well, after I've seen one episode I've compared it to Johnny Test, a hated cartoon which is available to view and download on the Sky Kids stores. It's like my TV is panicking the same way Johnny Test makes my TV shout at me! Y'Know, I often find CBBC shouting at me for not seeing it in the last few years. Luckily I've got some ideas on how to relive it, which can only be seen in my imagination. And by the way, both Johnny Test and Boy Girl Dog Cat Mouse Cheese have a talking dog in it. I wish Boy Girl Dog Cat Mouse Cheese never existed!

Factory's Gift

This afternoon, Factory gave me a surprising gift as a thank you for all the cards and letters I sent over the past few months: a Clangers mug featuring my two favourite Clangers Tiny and Small! Inside it was a whole bag of chocolate coins, which is really unusual for a company to give to its loyal fans, but from what I knew, the Clangers once discovered chocolate coins anyway in the classic series. Inside the box was a letter thanking me for my ideas from Jo and the Clangers team. I've just had an idea: at the beginning of one of my books, I'm going to thank Jo for the lovely gift....but what can I choose? Oh well, Clangers are good at giving gifts....and so are my friends from Scream Street and Strange Hill High!

By the way, does the above picture remind me of anything I've thought up today? Yes, of course, because there will be a chapter in 'I.B.F.Fs: The Eagle's Nest' named 'Tranquility' which is set at a lily pond in the jungle. Luke, Resus, Cleo and I love to relax there, but we all have different tastes: whilst us girls (Cleo and me) love to lie on top of the water and smell the fresh water-based flowers, Luke and Resus splash each other playfully with water. Jungle based gender differences...we're all of the same skin, right? RIGHT?! Oops, sorry, I was being a bit loud, 'The Eagle's Nest' was supposed to be a quiet, calming book proven to help relieve stress.
