Sensory Museum (First Half Only)

I've only done the first half of this story, because I've done it at the Hub (and I remembered the first few minutes of the If You Give A Mouse A Cookie episode it is based on off by heart!). This story focuses on me, my I.B.F.Fs and our friend the Iron Chicken as we delve into the subject on sensory equipment being used to stimulate and help autistic people develop through a trip to the museum and through building our very own sensory museum for autistic people like me. I'll do the exciting museum bits another time! For now, enjoy the first half!

I used to read the Gruffalo when I was younger, have studied the Gruffalo in primary school and watched little bits of the film. Now that the Gruffalo is turning 20, (that's really old in Gruffalo years) Newsround just informed us that the Gruffalo is getting his own stamps - which surprisingly doesn't include the fierce brown beast himself. Scream Street Thought Of The Day - Light Fingers

Touch is the most sensual of your five senses. With touch, you can't be wrong about softness, because softness is the best thing you get to touch out of all things. Things in Scream Street may be hard, rough, spiky, lumpy or slimy, but soft and smooth things are much safer to touch according to Luke, Resus and Cleo by the way. Without your hands, what would you touch now? Your fingers can touch anything that's soft and gentle, like skin, velvet, water or your best friends, but not in a horrible way, even if you happen to touch three friends which happen to be a werewolf, vampire and mummy, and gentle touch is much better than hard touch anyway. So how can you feel my three best friends? Luke has a soft T-shirt so when you stroke it, it's 100% pure cotton, so it's not surprising that his skin is soft to touch too - it feels as smooth as velvet, almost like a pure carpet of silk drawn across Luke's body. What about Resus? He happens to have sensitive skin, so he must be sensitive to touch - as I said in the last few thoughts, if you touch Resus' skin he may giggle, and the only time he touches his skin is when he takes a bath and cares for his own skin, just like Luke does. Resus' cloak also feels quite soft to touch, too, as it's made of pure velvet. And speaking of baths, bubbles are quite foamy and fluffy to touch, especially when you're relaxing at a spa or in the bath. As for Cleo, when she strokes you with one finger, it feels delicate as I have predicted it would be. Some people believe Cleo's bandages remain rough, because she and her dad are Egyptian mummies, but no, you're wrong. I'll let you in on a little secret about how it's safe to touch Cleo: she takes a bath like Luke and Resus do (remember in 'The Plague' when her dad went into the bath?) and she uses a lot of things to keep her bandages nice and soft, but have you ever used fabric softener in the bath? Some fabric softeners are hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested, so they can make fabric so soft they care for your skin. Well, Cleo's the only person who uses fabric softener to clean herself in the bath, so the next time you ask Cleo how she gets her bandages all soft, she'll give you that answer immediately, but DON'T even TRY to use fabric softener in the bath at home, or else your skin will get irritated. Anyway, now that Cleo's used to taking a bath her bandages are soft and safe to touch, so watch out, if you want to tickle Cleo she might either laugh or unexpectedly sigh in contentment. The other residents of Scream Street all have unique ways of touch, like Dig has soft fur and a rough, bony half, Lulu has slimy skin and Doug has an itchy, irritating jumper. But sharing touch with Luke, Resus Cleo is a luxury worth sharing...and I totally agree.

I.B.F.Fs: The Eagle's Nest

I was originally going to do an I.B.F.F story named 'A Dirty Day Out', but due to second thoughts and sensual feelings last night, I had the sudden urge to do 'I.B.F.Fs: The Eagle's Nest', a novel based on a series of dreams I had which encourages autistic people to relieve stress and find calmness in themselves. It features me, Luke, Resus and Cleo raised in the jungle, exploring our tranquil, loving jungle home and sleeping in a cosy eagle's nest. I've only done the first three chapters, so feel free to read and let your mind wander.

Our School: Dive In & Do It!/Operation Ouch On Sky Kids

This week's Our School has got me thinking about the Sky Kids series Ocean Rescue: Dive In & Do It, which aims to encourage viewers to stop plastic from taking over the ocean the same way as this episode does. When I was at school, they were all over plastic and I was so annoyed I tried to stop them, to no avail, so without further ado, I think Sky Kids has become useful to me when I see something that reminds me of a series on Sky Kids after all.

I also discovered Operation Ouch was part of the What's New lineup on Sky Kids today, so it goes something like this:

Scream Street Thought Of The Day - The Evil Ooze

When you feel the difference, it means seeing which body is different from which and discovering what makes me, Luke, Resus and Cleo alike. If you are to share a steam bath with Luke, Resus, Cleo and Luella, it'd mean you get to feel the difference quite easily, as if you're wanting to share each others' skin (or bandages if you're Cleo) and discuss things like why are people different from the freaks that live in Scream Street. You might find sharing a steam bath with Scream Street residents embarrassing - but I don't - I find it relaxing.
