A Pint Of Milk & A Carton Of Cake

We see a delicious looking chocolate cake, looking all plain and brown. Suddenly, Mrs Watson’s hand moves into frame holding a piping bag and covering it with delicious pink icing. Another piping bag moves into frame and squeezes out the title, in big red letters:

TITLE: “A PINT OF MILK & A CARTON OF CAKE”

FADE TO BLACK.

FADE IN:

INT. SYBIL’S HOUSE - KITCHEN. DAY.

Luke, Resus, Cleo and Sybil are standing still, staring at what’s on the kitchen counter in awe: a huge chocolate cake and a pint of milk. There is total silence as they gaze at it in amazement. Once, it is broken by:

SYBIL

Wow.

Another brief moment of silence. Then:

SYBIL

What on earth did they leave out?

CLEO

We’re not supposed to touch it. Mrs Watson said this cake was only meant for teatime, as this pint of milk was.

RESUS
I’m going to have a bite out of this cake right now!

Resus lunges at the cake, but Sybil stops him:

SYBIL

No no no no no! You can’t eat it! There’s a sign right near it.

Sybil points to a small sign near the cake saying, in small red pen writing, “Don’t touch ‘til teatime”.

RESUS

Oh. So…how long must we wait?

SYBIL

Teatime isn’t until 4 O’Clock, Resus. You’ve got to be patient.

CLEO

What’s going on in our minds right now?

LUKE

Us. Eating huge slices of that cake…mmmm…and drinking that lovely milk.

SYBIL

Yes…I could just imagine it now…

Sybil closes her eyes tight as we ZOOM IN SLOWLY on them. Suddenly, her eyes open!

ZOOM OUT:

Luke, Resus, Sybil and Cleo are standing on the cake, about the size of ants, their feet digging into the pink icing. They are totally amazed by what they see.

CLEO

Wow! How on earth did we get to be this size?

SYBIL
Easy, I just imagined we are small, and there we are.

LUKE
Cool!

RESUS
Hey, does that mean I could have some cake now?

SYBIL

You know what, Resus? You’re right. Let’s dig in!

Luke, Resus, Cleo and Sybil chow down on the cake. A MONTAGE begins of Luke, Resus, Cleo and Sybil eating great big hunks of cake, throwing icing balls at each other and making icing angels, as if it were a snowy day.

The MONTAGE FINISHES and Luke, Resus, Cleo and Sybil are sitting around the last great hunk of cake, feeling very full up.

SYBIL

I can’t take any more cake.

RESUS
I’m so full.

CLEO
You can say that again, I’m stuffed. My bandages can’t take any weight!

RESUS
I’m so full.

LUKE

(laughs)

You and your double entendres, Resus. This is the best cake I’ve ever eaten in my life!

Luke belches out brown and pink bubbles. Suddenly, I point out:

SYBIL
Guys, look!

Everyone looks up.

LOW ANGLE VIEW - THE MILK BOTTLE

Towering over our four heroes’ heads like a giant white thing.

Everyone races towards the milk bottle.

RESUS
We’re going to climb it.

LUKE
(worried)

But what if we spill it? Mum will be furious!

SYBIL

It’s alright, Luke, just because we’re small doesn’t mean our adventure has to be as big as a pint of milk then, doesn’t it?

LUKE/RESUS
No…

SYBIL

All we need now is a rope.

(takes out a rubber band)

Or this!

Luke, Resus, Cleo and Sybil begin climbing up the pint. It’s very easy for them with the rubber band, but suddenly Cleo slips. Sybil takes her hand and helps her grab onto the rubber band they are climbing up the pint with. Once they reached the top, they hold onto it in exhaustion. They’ve made it.

CLEO
Phew. Now all we have to do is peel off the milk bottle top.

SYBIL
I’ll help!

LUKE
Me too!

RESUS
I’m in!

SYBIL
Okay, right. Three…two…one…pull!

Everyone begins pulling, and the pint begins to wobble. It tips over just as the milk bottle top opens…and then, milk comes pouring out. The kids slide across the counter in a pool of milk, and knock the cake and the plate off the table. SMASH! It lands on the floor, knocking everything to pieces. Luke, Resus, Cleo and Sybil laugh over their misadventure.

MATCH DISSOLVE:

INT. SYBIL’S HOUSE - SYBIL’S BEDROOM. DAY.

Luke, Resus, Cleo and Sybil are lying near a tipped over cardboard box, with the toy box left wide open.

SYBIL

What a trip!

CLEO
Yeah, it’s a shame we pretended to spill the milk and eat the cake.

LUKE

What would happen if we accidentally tip the milk over for real life?

RESUS

(gasps, worried)

Our mums would ground us and send us to our rooms!

SYBIL

Hey-hey-hey-hey-hey, calm down, Resus, pretending to be small and eating cake is part of the fun.

(looks at the clock, which nearly says 4 O’Clock)

Look at the time! It must be nearly time for tea!

SYBIL/LUKE/CLEO

Hooray!

RESUS
Finally.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. KITCHEN. DAY.

Mrs Watson carries the chocolate cake to the table before the eagerly-awaiting Luke, Resus, Cleo and Sybil, who stare at it in awe. Using a cake cutter, Mrs Watson cuts out slices of cake to give to her family, and everyone begins to enjoy their slices.

LUKE
(with his mouthful of cake)

You know Sybil, you’re right about this cake. It tastes so yummy.

SYBIL

Yummy is as yummy does, Luke. And what can I say? It’s beyond brilliant!

IRIS IN.

Autistica - Just Like My Age

Joan lay back in the nice, warm bath. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the warmth of the water. It was heaven, and make no mistake, it was all the parent time she deserved. She sighed, and thought about the most peaceful things a mother could think of. For a mother who along with her husband wasn’t a werewolf, this was the quiet she deserved. It was so nice that she dared not think about anything at all.

Just then, I toddled into the bathroom. It was me as a toddler, so I didn’t disturb her relaxation time, I just wanted to climb into the bath with her. I reached up to Joan, who opened one eye and looked down at me. “You want to get in with me?” she laughed, “Okay. Up we come!” She picked me up and lifted me into the warm water. “Wheeeeeeee!!” I cried, totally excited by this. Once I was in the water, I splashed Joan by splashing my tiny hands into the water. Joan splashed me, and soon we were both splashing each other, laughing every second of every minute. Joan took me in her arms and kissed me on the cheek, cuddling me. She then nose-kissed me and put me back into the water, giggling over such fun. She never had such fun, not since she dropped a pan full of spaghetti on the floor..

I took my rubber duck and placed it into the water, watching it bob up and down. Joan watched it too, proud of my developing sense of play. “That’s a duck, Sophie. It goes, quack quack! Quack quack!” I giggled over Joan’s best duck impression. Joan took a bottle of bubble bath and poured it into the water, swishing it round so that lots of bubbles appeared. “Bubbles!” I cried, trying to pop every single one. “They’re scented like strawberries, Sophie,” said Joan, “The bubbles are like little strawberries growing in a field.” I tried to eat the bubbles, but Joan just laughed. “They’re not for eating.” she giggled.

I rubbed my eyes in disbelief. Bubbles aren’t for eating, candyfloss is. I suddenly yawned, feeling very tired. “Is mummy’s little water baby tired?” said Joan in a cutesy voice. She took me in her loving arms and cradled me as I snuggled up next to her skin. All the time, Fang was watching, and he was feeling very proud of me. He smiled as he watched my warm embrace with his mother, and memories came flooding back.…

As a toddler, Fang splashed in the bath with his mother, enjoying cuddles and sliding down her legs into the water. He would play with the rubber duck the same way I played with it, and sometimes try to eat the bubbles, like me. Joan would laugh at his antics, and yet when they both got dry they cuddled like there was no tomorrow.

Fang came into the bathroom and scruffled my hair. “That’s my girl,” he said, “A great successor to the greatest werewolf of all time. May I come in and join you?” “Of course,” said his mum, and Fang stepped in. Soon we were all splashing and laughing, forgetting all about the trouble of life and enjoying one thing that always keeps us together…

Just Like My Age

Sue lay back in the nice, warm bath. The water covered her soft, smooth skin as she closed her eyes and enjoyed the warmth of the water. It was heaven, and make no mistake, it was all the parent time she deserved. She sighed, and thought about the most peaceful things a mother could think of. For a mother who tried to get her husband together due to his fear of monsters, this was the quiet she deserved. It was so nice that she dared not think about anything at all.

Just then, I toddled into the bathroom. It was me as a toddler, so I didn’t disturb her relaxation time, I just wanted to climb into the bath with her. I took my rubber duck and placed it into the water, watching it bob up and down. Mrs Watson watched it too, proud of my developing sense of play. “That’s a duck, Sybil. It goes, quack quack! He smiled as he watched my warm embrace with his mother, and memories came flooding back. Memories of who he used to be, before he became a werewolf…

Am I A Woman Or A Monster?

KNICKERS!

Escape From No.6

My support worker just had a brilliant idea - every time I go into shops to pay for things, put a piece of rubbish in the bin or post a letter, she'll write it down in a notebook and once it reaches up to 10, I'll get a treat! I was stuck in No.6 at Key, and I was fine sitting there looking at the cat and glass ornaments, until Siobhan, my old support worker, came. She watched as Libby and I explained our plan, then we left for home. Good on ya, Sybs!

Fluttershy, Queen Of The Cupcakes!

Scream Street, From Frankie & Benny's

If you love going to Frankie & Benny's just for the Scream Street offer last Halloween, then why not check out their activity sheet? I found it on Mum's laptop earlier and it contains three jokes which you can adapt into comics - think of Cleo, Mia and Amy painting each other's nails, Resus in the Garden Of Eden and...whatever tiramisu is. Print out the activity sheet and join in the fun as you colour, stick and follow! And remember, when Hallowistmas comes, I'll be the first to inform you about the new Scream Street books!

Torchlight

Sorry about the lack of blog entries yesterday, it's because I found out my stress was actually frustration. Anyway, my eye is irritated once again, so I'm taking a break, but I bring you my latest story!💖

“Mum, can we sleep in your bed with you?” Resus asked, holding my little hand tight as we entered Resus’ parents room. I was still feeling a little restless, but Resus was there for me. Being my big brother, we just had to exit the bedroom we call our comfy and quiet resting place and sleep in Resus’ parents bedroom just for a change. “Wha….what?” asked Alston as he sat up. “What’s going on?” yawned Bella as she sat up too. “It’s Sybil,” said Resus, “She’s having trouble getting to sleep. She thinks she hears spooky noises outside the window.” Alston and Bella looked at each other in concern. Then Bella said, “It’s alright, little one. Come and sleep with us.” “One bad dream means more rest near us for you,” said Alston.

We settled into bed beside Alston and Bella. I snuggled right up next to Resus’ mother’s warm bosom, while Resus snuggled right up next to his father. Best of all, they didn’t bite. They just nuzzled us and kissed us goodnight. I yawned and snuggled beside my big brother, feeling safe with three friendly vampires by my side. I once kissed Resus and he giggled under his breath. But in my head, a dream was brewing….

In my dream, I was as small as an ant as I climbed up the side of the bed using a rubber band. I slipped a few times, but I managed to climb up to the base of the bed. Once I’ve adjusted myself, I wandered around the bed looking for more discoveries. Suddenly, I spotted a pair of ginormous pale feet right in front of me. They were Bella’s feet. I felt the walls of my discovery - they were very soft, yet very smooth. I decided to climb up the right foot and look out over the new world. I climbed, and I climbed, and I climbed, my bare feet touching the soft skin of the walls of the flesh-filled climbing frame. Suddenly, Bella’s foot jerked, and I was sent falling! But I managed to climb on tight, and keep on going.

At last, I climbed up in between Bella’s toes and looked around. Her toenails seemed to be painted a lavish blood red. I looked further into the distance. A whole world was waiting for me, and it stretched out over the bed, underneath the duvet covers. Excited, I slid down the front of Bella’s foot and onto her leg. It lead out into a field of pure black silk (that’s Bella’s pyjamas). I took one little step and it was as soft as Bella’s smooth feet. I wandered across the black field, my bare hands and feet touching the soft, silky strands. I tried balancing, making sure I’m on the leg bone which was barely visible underneath Bella’s skin, right under her pyjamas.

Suddenly, I was confronted with a big knobbly bit right in the centre of the field (that’s Bella’s knee). The knobbly hill was so big compared to how tiny I was.

I.B.F.Fs: Hot Cocoa, Warm Kisses

This time, I've picked Zura the Egyptian mummy and her father Palm to star in these 28 stories.

One morning, Zura and I awoke to hear a strange whistling noise coming from outside. It couldn’t be the postman, because his whistling sounds jolly and not so spooky at all. We looked out the window and saw what was making the whistling sound. It was the snowy breath of Winter air, covering everything in our town so that it made everything quiet. But we weren’t quiet when we saw the snow. “SNOW!” we cried, high-fiving each other. “Oh boy, I can’t believe it snowed overnight!” I cried, “We’re going to do all the stuff kids do when it snows outside.” “Like…build snowmen?” asked Zura. “You bet!” I said. “And make snowballs to use in snowball fights?” “Sure.” “And make snow angels?” “Oh yes!” I cried.

We brushed our teeth and raced downstairs to have our breakfast. It was cornflakes. The grownups had toast. “What’s all the rush?” asked Palm. “It snowed!” I shouted with glee. “I can’t believe it! Woohoo!” cried Zura. “I know you’re all excited,” Palm laughed, “Now eat up your breakfast. You don’t want to be late for school.” “Where’s Mum?” I asked. “Mum’s been on the phone two times this morning.” said Palm, “I heard she’s been on the phone with Shamalama. Now she’s on the phone with Mr Bonehead.” As we started on our cornflakes, Mum was really speaking to Mr Bonehead on the phone. “Yes, it’s alright with me. What? You mean the snow’s blocked the school entrance? Okay, I’ll let everyone know. Yeah, it’s alright. See you later. Bye!” Mum put down the phone and walked up to the breakfast table.

“Well, guys, sounds like you’re having a snow day.” said Mum. “Really?” I asked. “School’s closed because of the snow, so how would you like to spend the day playing in it?” “Yeah!” we cried, and we high-fived each other yet again. “Kids these days. Full of energy, they are.” laughed Palm. “What will you be doing whilst we’re playing in the snow?” I asked. “We’re going to be shovelling the snow away from the front door.” said Mum. “Finish your breakfast like good kids before you go out and play.”

After breakfast, the big moment came. We put on our hats and scarves and coats and Winter boots, and ran outside with our sledge towards the park. All the playground equipment was covered with snow, and there were children playing everywhere. We saw Princess and Heart sledging downhill. We saw Bea and Jock making a snowman. We saw Winston trying to dig for treasure in the snow, which made us laugh. First, we sledged down the hill. The Winter wind whipped our hair and bandages as we screamed and yelled with delight riding down the hill. I was sitting behind Zura, and I held onto him as the cold wind blew in my face. At last, the sledge hit a rock, and we were sent tumbling head over heels in the snow. We got up, laughing in joy. Next, we lay back down on the snow and made snow angels. Making a snow angel is very simple, really - you just have to lie down and wave your arms and legs up and down to make a white cotton gown and beautiful golden wings - except the gold and cotton are never to be found anywhere. The only cottony softness exists in the snow, and it was very soft and cold against our skin.

Not long afterward, we decided to have a snowball fight. We made snowballs and threw them at each other, ducking and dodging and trying to avoid every single throw. We hid behind snow-covered walls to avoid the snowballs coming straight at us like they did in the army. Zura was trying her best to avoid my snowballs, but she fell over and almost slid towards the icy pond, but someone caught her just in time. It was Alvin! “You know, a snowball fight could be very dangerous.” he said. “Why’s that, Bluey?” asked Zura. “Because of the frozen pond! Don’t you see? The pond is frozen solid, and if anyone pretends to slide on it the ice might crack, and then you’ll be trapped under the ice forever!” I shuddered just thinking about being entombed in an ice cube for all eternity. “Gee, I don’t think we’d go on the pond then.” I said. “Why don’t we build a snowman instead?” “Yes! A snowman!” cried Alvin.

Alvin helped us make a snow lion. He and Zura rolled lumps of snow towards the hill, the lumps getting bigger and bigger until they became snowballs, while I tried to find sticks and lumps of coal to make the snowdog’s arms, eyes and mouth. We made cylinder shapes to make the body and head, and we made cylinder ears and a snout too. We drew lines around his face, and put the coal lumps onto his face, making the eyes and nose. We had made a Snow Duane! Alvin laughed seeing this. “He looks just like Dad!” he laughed. “If only your father could see it now!” smirked Zura, trying to hold back a laugh, but she let out a giggle anyway, and soon we were all laughing.

“No laughing matter,” said a tough voice, disrupting our laughter. It was Roger, the school bully. He was wearing his bad boy Winter clothing, all black with tattoos on them. “Oh, hi, Roger,” said Zura nervously, “Have you come to kick our snowman to pieces?” “Not likely,” said Roger, “I’ve come to challenge you to a race to the pond.” “But we’re not allowed to go there,” I said, “The ice might break underneath us.” “Ah, who cares,” said Roger, “Either you race downhill with me with your pitiful sledge, or I take away all your sweets in the sweet jar back ‘ome.” I screamed and ran behind Zura’s legs, shivering. “How dare you threaten to punch our little sister, she’s too sweet and innocent!” growled Zura. “You’re ruining our snow day!”

Hot Cocoa, Warm Kisses - Part 2

One morning, Luke, Resus, Cleo and I awoke to hear a strange whistling noise coming from outside. It couldn’t be the postman, because his whistling sounds jolly and not so spooky at all. We looked out the window and saw what was making the whistling sound. It was the snowy breath of Winter air, covering everything in our town so that it made everything quiet. We brushed our teeth and raced downstairs to have our breakfast. It was cornflakes. The grownups had toast. “What’s all the rush?” asked Alston Negative. “It snowed!” I shouted with glee. “I can’t believe it!” cried Luke. “Woohoo!” cried Cleo. “I know you’re all excited,” laughed Mrs Watson, “Now eat up your breakfast. You don’t want to be late for school.” “Where’s Mum?” I asked. “Mum’s on the phone two times this morning.” said Niles, “I heard she’s been on the phone with Calypso. Now she’s on the phone with Dr Skulley.” As we started on our cornflakes, Mum was really speaking to Dr Skulley on the phone.

Full of energy, they are.” laughed Bella Negative. “What will you be doing whilst we’re playing in the snow?” I asked. “We’re going to be shovelling the snow away from the front door.” said Mr Watson. “It seems like hard work for a simple-minded man like myself.” Luke tried not to laugh. “I know that smirk hiding under that grin, Luke.” said Mr Watson with a determined look on his face. “Sorry, dad, I guess I thought you were doing what Bandit, Stripe and Lucky’s Dad do every Summer when the stumps come out to roast.” “That’s Stumpfest,” I said. “Stumpfest doesn’t occur in Winter. It occurs in Summer.” “But they cut down trees to make Christmas trees in Winter,” said Cleo. “That’s when you hear them shout…” I made a drum roll on the table using two spoons. “TIMBER!!” “Okay, not so loudly,” Mum laughed, “Finish your breakfast like good kids before you go out and play.”

After breakfast, the big moment came. We put on our hats and scarves and coats and Winter boots, and ran outside with our sledge towards the park. All the playground equipment was covered with snow, and there were children playing everywhere. We saw Coco and Indy sledging downhill. We saw Honey and Mackenzie making a snowman. We saw Winston trying to dig for treasure in the snow, which made us laugh. First, we sledged down the hill. Resus was trying his best to avoid Luke’s snowballs, but he fell over and almost slid towards the icy pond, but someone caught him just in time. It was Bluey! “You know, mate, a snowball fight could be very dangerous.” she said. “Why’s that, Bluey?” asked Cleo. “Why don’t we build a snowman instead?” “No worries, mate,” said Bluey.

Bluey helped us make a snowdog. Luke, Resus, Cleo and Bluey rolled lumps of snow towards the hill, the lumps getting bigger and bigger until they became snowballs, while I tried to find sticks and lumps of coal to make the snowdog’s arms, eyes and mouth.
